LinkedIn’s Permalinks are Down Right Ugly

As many of you know, I'm not a huge fan of LinkedIn. I mean, I don't despise them as I do Yelp or even the BBB, but I put LinkedIn into the category of "weird, confusing, and challenging." So today I decided to point out the ugliness and non-SEO friendliness of LinkedIn's permalinks. As a programmer, I get it. [...]

SEO life: I work with my wife everyday, here’s how

I'd like to start by saying I love my wife, and we are best friends and partners, truly. She is also one of the most talented and ambitious people I know. We truly enjoy, appreciate and compliment one another. We are also very realistic and know that everything in life takes work. We both live by a simple relationship [...]

How to pronounce my last name: “Coombe”

Like many folks, I have a last name that is very commonly mispronounced and misspelled. Let's end this right here and now. Design: Cassette Tape Illustration

Just doing my best to keep my Photoshop skills sharp. Did this project in about an hour this evening. Inspiration was taken from a cassette tape I saw earlier, I really miss them sometimes. Had a lot of problems with the shadows but have come a long way with that. Enjoy :) High resolution also available.

Rant: Google Algorithm Update Annoucement Channels

If it is one thing I get, it is a lack of transparency. I get that Google keeps a tight lid on trade secrets, algorithm updates, and everything in between. I also get that for whatever reason Google does not feel the need to announce updates for algorithm updates anymore through public channels the way they used to. Penguin [...]

Security Through Obscurity: Hiding WordPress from Bad Robots

WordPress is probably the most popular website framework on the planet Earth. In the security community it is also known as one of the most exploitable frameworks for a number of reasons. There are pretty much 2 main types of WordPress attacks that I've been seeing these days, nothing new: Brute forcing wp-admin via dictionary attack. Injecting code /payload [...]

Bypassing Facebook’s Identity Verification

If you have ever tried to login to Facebook from a new device, Facebook might prompt you to prove that you are the account holder by identifying photos of your friends. Recently I needed to gain control of an account that was not mine (that I had full authorization to do so) and had to go through this task. [...]
