WordPress Security Scanning for Total Newbs

Network security has always been a hobby of mine. I've always been interested in vulnerability scanning, pen testing, hacking and the likes. Last year when our website got hacked I actually got a little excited because I got to figure out how it was done and how to fix it (it was a WordPress SQL injection as a result [...]

Google considers these 10 SEO articles “in-depth,” do you?

Twas' browsing the SERPs recently and reflecting upon a post I ran back when in-depth articles first came out. It's been about a year and a half since then, and I wanted to do a brief check in on one SERP in particular I've been following. Doing a quick query for "SEO" will return a number of results, and [...]

LinkedIn’s Permalinks are Down Right Ugly

As many of you know, I'm not a huge fan of LinkedIn. I mean, I don't despise them as I do Yelp or even the BBB, but I put LinkedIn into the category of "weird, confusing, and challenging." So today I decided to point out the ugliness and non-SEO friendliness of LinkedIn's permalinks. As a programmer, I get it. [...]

We truly enjoy, appreciate and compliment one another. We are also very realistic and know that everything in life takes work. We both live by a simple relationship [...]

How to pronounce my last name: “Coombe”

Like many folks, I have a last name that is very commonly mispronounced and misspelled. Let's end this right here and now. Listen on this nifty SoundCloud embed: This post is also relevant to my brothers last name: Tom Coombe who apparently is so frustrated with our god given last name that he decided to mock it with his [...]

Design: Cassette Tape Illustration

Just doing my best to keep my Photoshop skills sharp. Did this project in about an hour this evening. Inspiration was taken from a cassette tape I saw earlier, I really miss them sometimes. Had a lot of problems with the shadows but have come a long way with that. Enjoy :) High resolution also available.

Rant: Google Algorithm Update Annoucement Channels

If it is one thing I get, it is a lack of transparency. I get that Google keeps a tight lid on trade secrets, algorithm updates, and everything in between. I also get that for whatever reason Google does not feel the need to announce updates for algorithm updates anymore through public channels the way they used to. Penguin [...]
